Quincy Crew added more silverware to their trophy cabinet on Saturday when they swept 4 Zoomers 3-0 in the grand finals of the OMEGA League Americas Divine Division.

At this point, it’s hard to be surprised by Quincy Crew winning a Dota2 tournament but at the same time, it’s difficult to not be impressed by how far this team has come this year. Throughout their two-year-long history, Quincy Crew have had their fair share of difficulties C namely roster instability – but it seems like all the pieces fell into place in March when the core of players returned to play under QC’s banner after their four-month stint with Chaos Esports Club.

Since Quincy Crew got back together, the North American esports organisation made only one roster change, when they replaced Malthe “Biver” Winther with ex-Ninjas in Pyjamas offlaner Rodrigo “Lelis” Santos, which ushered Quincy Crew’s most successful period since the team was formed in August 2018.

Avery “SVG” Silverman and his crew started the year with a runner-up finish at ESL One Los Angeles 2020 – Online: North America in April, to which they added two more silver medals from BTS Pro Series: Americas and Dota 2 BEAT Invitational Season 9. But that was only a taste of things to come.

Quincy Crew went on to attend six events and won all of them, including FVBet Showmatch #1, ESL One Birmingham 2020 – Online: North & South America, BTS Pro Series Season 2: Americas, OGA Dota PIT S2: Americas, The Great American Rivalry Season 1 Division 1, ESL One Thailand 2020: Americas and have now added their seventh consecutive Dota2 tournament title with another phenomenal performance at OMEGA League: Americas Divine Division.

At the OMEGA League SVG and co. had no real difficulties securing the top spot in the group, which they achieved with a perfect 4-0 record and 8-1 map differential. Quincy Crew then carried over their momentum into the playoffs, where they defeated beastcoast (2-1) and 4 Zoomers (2-1) to secure a spot in the grand finals, where they reunited with familiar faces of Nico “Gunnar” Lopez and his stack of players.

Like it was the case in the upper bracket finals, 4 Zoomers stood no chance against the surging Quincy Crew, who left nothing to chance and swept their regional rivals with a clean 3-0 win.

Not one of the three games was close, which in most part was due to Quincy Crew’s strong early game and composed playstyle that allowed them to snowball their lead into a victory. What makes Quincy Crew’s title-winning run even more impressive, is the fact that they dropped only three maps throughout the whole event to business associates, beastcoast and 4 Zoomers.

What’s more, in Quincy Crew managed 3-0 sweeps in all of the last three grand finals appearances including The Great American Rivalry Season 1 Division 1, ESL One Thailand 2020: Americas and now OMEGA League. By winning the OMEGA League: Americas Divine Division, Quincy Crew pocketed US $12,000 in tournament winnings, which brings their total tournament earnings of 2020 to $138.922.

With BTS Pro Series Season 3: Americas just around the corner, it is likely Quincy Crew will enter the event to defend their BTS Pro Series Season 2 title. However, their participation has yet to be confirmed by either the organisers or the players, meaning Quincy Crew could be taking a short break to recharge their batteries.

VIKIN.GG vs ALLIANCE OMEGA LEAGUE BETTING PREVIEW

Vikin.gg and Alliance will meet for the fourth time this year when they lock horns in the opening round of the OMEGA League Europe Immortal Division lower bracket playoffs on Wednesday.

Formed just under a year ago, Vikin.gg have enjoyed a rapid climb up the rankings. They have attended 13 Tier 3 tournaments in 2020 and won eight of them, while they managed top-three finishes in four of the other five. Although Vikin.gg have seen less success in Tier 2 events, they’ve still made their presence known.

Across the last three months, Melchior “Seleri” Hillenkamp and co. produced a runner-up finish at OMG Cup 3, went top eight at OGA Dota PIT 2020 Online Europe/CIS, ESL One Birmingham 2020 Online Europe & CIS and OGA Dota PIT S2 Europe/CIS, and ran fifth-sixth at BEYOND EPIC Europe/CIS. Now, they’re guaranteed to lock in at least a top-eight finish in the highest division of the OMEGA League, with another podium placing within their reach as they look to fight their way through the lower bracket.

Vikin.gg came through the group stage with a solid 3-2 record that tied them with back-to-back The International champions OG, although they had to settle for third place due to their -1 map differential. Seleri and his team produced 2-1 victories against FlyToMoon, Ninjas in Pyjamas and Team Liquid, but they lost to Team Secret (0-2) and OG (1-2).

The man to watch for Vikin.gg is the 20-year-old Dutch carry Indji “Shad” Lub, who has developed into a promising prospect with a 7.05 KDA, 295.04 LH and 14.87 DN across 358 games. That achievement becomes even more impressive when we take into consideration that Shad had never played Dota 2 esports professionally before joining the Romanian organisation in September 2019.

Standing in Vikin.gg’s way this Wednesday will be Alliance, who are best known for winning The International 2013. Although they have not scaled those heights since, the Swedish team are still regarded as one of the strongest in Europe.

Alliance have managed a few noteworthy results since the turn of the year, including a fourth-place finish at the Leipzig Major and silver medals from StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 3, ESL One Birmingham 2020 and OGA Dota PIT S2. Gustav “s4” Magnusson and co. also had a shot at a podium finish at BEYOND EPIC Europe/CIS, but they were stopped in their tracks by none other than Vikin.gg in the first round of the lower bracket.

If we compare the teams’ form, it’s Vikin.gg who look to be better prepared for this bout with a 7-2 record since the start of August compared to Alliance’s 3-3. It’s worth noting that four of Vikin.gg’s wins came from the OMEGA League Europe Closed Qualifier, where they took down Cyberium Seed (2-0), Team Unique (2-1), Team Empire (2-1) and HellRaisers (2-0). Even excluding those results, they showed a bit more than Alliance throughout the OMEGA League group stage.

VIKIN.GG vs ALLIANCE OMEGA LEAGUE BETTING PREVIEW

Vikin.gg have won two of their three clashes with Alliance this season. The Swedes claimed a 2-1 victory at ESL One Los Angeles 2020 in April, lost the next bout 1-2 at OGA Dota PIT S1 in May, then scored a 2-0 sweep at BEYOND EPIC just before the break.

Even though the head-to-head record favours Vikin.gg, they enter this match as underdogs. Alliance looked very solid in their recent victories against Natus Vincere (2-1) and FlyToMoon (2-1), while Vikin.gg’s last game took place over a week ago.

Regardless, Alliance offer no value in the betting. All the form lines point towards Vikin.gg, so we will take our chances with the underdogs.

TEAM SECRET vs EVIL GENIUSES OMEGA LEAGUE BETTING PREVIEW

Two of the region’s strongest Dota 2 esports teams will meet this Thursday when Team Secret and Evil Geniuses duke it out for a place in the OMEGA League Europe Immortal Division upper bracket final.

Evil Geniuses entered the OMEGA League as one of the title favourites. Despite those high expectations, they struggled in the group stage and scraped into the playoffs with a 3-2 record.

Tal “Fly” Aizik and his crew began their journey in Group A alongside Natus Vincere, 5men, Alliance, Virtus.pro and Team Nigma. They got off to a strong start with impressive wins against 5men (2-0) and Team Nigma (2-1), to which they added a shocking 0-2 loss to NaVi, a 2-0 win against Alliance and a narrow 1-2 loss to Virtus.pro.

It might seem bizarre that EG can beat the world no.2 and no.3 teams in Nigma and Alliance yet stumble against the likes of Natus Vincere and Virtus.pro, but some inconsistencies are to be expected when Danil “gpk” Skutin is standing in for Abed Azel L. “Abed” Yusop. Also, this is their first Dota 2 tournament since June, when they finished as runners-up at BTS Pro Series Season 2 Americas.

Team Secret have long been regarded as one of the strongest Dota 2 esports teams on the planet. Clement “Puppey” Ivanov and co. have held top spot in the Electronic Sports League (ESL) Dota 2 world rankings for six months, which is none too surprising when you consider their record in 2020.

Since the turn of the year, Team Secret have attended eight tournaments and won six of them. Their only misses came at WePlay! Dota 2 Tug of War Mad Moon and ESL One Los Angeles 2020 Online Europe & CIS, where Secret finished second and fifth-sixth respectively.

After their slip up at ESL One LA, Puppey and his crew won their next five events in convincing fashion. They also claimed top spot at the Gamers Without Border 2020 charity tourney, beating Natus Vincere 3-0 in the final.

Team Secret began their OMEGA League journey in Group B alongside OG, Vikin.gg, Team Liquid, FlyToMoon and Ninjas in Pyjamas, none of whom could stop the world no.1 team. The only side that came close to derailing them were Liquid (1-2) in the opening series of the group stage, yet even that result must be taken with a grain of salt as it was Secret’s first official match since winning BEYOND EPIC Europe/CIS in late June.

TEAM SECRET vs EVIL GENIUSES OMEGA LEAGUE BETTING PREDICTIONS

These teams split their six meetings evenly last year, but it was Team Secret who won 3-2 when they last faced off in the Leipzig Major grand finals back in January.

A lot has changed for Evil Geniuses since then, namely the departure of Syed Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan to OG and Gustav “s4” Magnusson to Alliance.

Although EG have matched up nicely with Team Secret in the past, it’s difficult to be optimistic about their chances against a team who are 42-4 across the last four months.

Upsets are a common occurrence in online matches, but Secret’s form this year is so dominant that a clean sweep looks the only likely outcome.

TEAM LIQUID vs FLYTOMOON OMEGA LEAGUE EUROPE IMMORTAL DIVISION BETTING PREVIEW

The penultimate day of the European OMEGA League Immortal Division group stage will feature a clash between Team Liquid and FlyToMoon, who will meet for the first time this tournament and for the third time this year.

Team Liquid have been a shadow of their former selves since they parted ways with their core roster and rebuilt their team with ex-Alliance players back in October 2019. Once a force to be reckoned with in the Dota 2 esports scene, Liquid slumped hard and finished in fifth-sixth place at the MDL Chengdu and Leipzig Majors.

Liquid’s best results this year include a runner-up finish at OGA Dota PIT 2020 Online Europe/CIS and bronze medals from WePlay! Pushka League S1 Division 1 and BEYOND EPIC Europe/CIS. While the online format might have something to do with their lack of success this season, their struggles against second-tier teams are indicative of serious problems within the squad.

Aydin “iNSaNiA” Sarkohi and his crew enter this match with four wins from their last 10 matches, although seven of those games were played two months ago. Since Liquid’s return to action last week, they have copped consecutive losses to Team Secret (1-2), Vikin.gg (1-2) and Ninjas in Pyjamas (0-2) – all in the OMEGA League.

Like Team Liquid, FlyToMoon have not seen any great success this season, although they were never a top-tier team to begin with. Having said that, the Ukrainians won the Maincast Winter Brawl and Parimatch League Season 2, and they even managed a fourth-place finish at BEYOND EPIC and OGA Dota PIT Season 2.

FlyToMoon managed a few notable results throughout June and July before taking a month-long break. Those include a five-map series with Virtus.pro (2-3) in the finals of Parimatch League Season 3 and a 2-0 sweep of Natus Vincere during OGA Dota PIT S2.

FTM returned to action in the OMEGA League as one of 10 directly invited teams. While they struggled to find their footing in their opening two games when they lost to Vikin.gg (1-2) and OG (0-2), they managed am impressive 2-0 win against Ninjas in Pyjamas last Saturday.

TEAM LIQUID vs FLYTOMOON OMEGA LEAGUE: EUROPE IMMORTAL DIVISION BETTING PREDICTIONS

These teams have met twice this year. Their first clash happened during the first season of the OGA Dota PIT in May, when Team Liquid reverse-swept FlyToMoon to snatch a 2-1 win. They followed that with a 2-0 sweep at BEYOND EPIC in June.

Liquid have a dominant record against FTM, winning all five of their meetings to date. However, three of those fixtures were played before TL rebuilt their roster last October.

Neither of these sides come off as serious OMEGA League title contenders, but it’s fair to say Liquid have shown less than their CIS counterparts. They sit at the bottom of Group B with a 0-3 record and 2-6 map differential, whereas FlyToMoon are 1-4 with a 3-8 map differential.

There is not a lot to set these teams apart in terms of form or quality at the moment. Even though FlyToMoon recently parted ways with Ilya “ALOHADANCE” Korobkin, they managed to get ahold of ex-Virtus.pro player Vladimir “RodjER” Nikogosyan as a stand-in for the tournament.

This match should be much closer than the latest odds at most Dota 2 betting sites suggest. Since Team Liquid are struggling with their form, there is no real reason to have FlyToMoon priced so high in the head-to-head market. A three-map series seems highly likely, but we will take our chances on the underdogs to claim their first win against the prominent North American esports organisation.
