?Team Liquid and NRG Esports will meet on Saturday, August 19, in the LCS 2023 Championship lower-bracket final. By the numbers, Liquid are a much stronger team than NRG, and the offered LoL betting odds reflect that.

Team Liquid’s performances throughout the LCS 2023 Summer regular season were mediocre. They had their moments, but TL struggled in closing out games, which is the main reason they’ve come up short of expectations.

However, Team Liquid have improved substantially for the LCS 2023 Championship. This comes with an asterisk since TL lost their first playoff match against NRG Esports (1-3), yet we should focus more on their performances against 100 Thieves (3-1), Evil Geniuses (3-1), and Golden Guardians (3-2).

Across the three series, Team Liquid have had their shaky moments, but it seems like they’ve finally turned a corner and put a lot of focus on fixing their main weakness.

NRG Esports exceeded everyone’s expectations by reaching the upper-bracket finals, but they got a bit lucky and were eventually exposed by Cloud9 in a 0-3 sweep last Saturday. NRG looked toothless in that series, proving they are not fit to compete at the highest level.

Throughout the season, NRG Esports’ success depended heavily on their opponents making mistakes. Such opportunities have presented themselves quite frequently, yet in games where NRG have been skill-checked, they’ve fallen apart.

NRG Esports defeated Team Liquid last time, but it mostly had to do with TL’s early-playoff struggles. Expect Liquid to win comfortably and take one step closer to their fifth LCS title.

NRG ESPORTS vs CLOUD9 LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Best Odds: NRG +333 at BetOnline | C9 -500 at BetOnline When: August 12, 2023 | 14:00 PDT Watch Live: Lolesports, Twitch

Against all odds, the LCS 2023 Championship upper-bracket finals will be contested between Cloud9 and NRG Esports, who have had completely different journeys through the regular season but fairly similar paths through the playoffs.

Cloud9 kicked off the LCS 2023 Championship in the second round, where they swept Evil Geniuses (3-0) to solidify their status as the best League of Legends esports team in North America. The series was much closer than the final result suggests, but Cloud9 were undeniably the better team.

NRG Esports, on the other hand, proved why they carry the tag of ‘giant killers’, defeating Team Liquid (3-1) and Golden Guardians (3-1) to secure their first LoL World Championship appearance in the team’s first split back in the League Championship Series. Like Cloud9, NRG Esports were the better team in their playoff games, but those come with an asterisk.

Team Liquid flubbed too many chances and made it easy for NRG Esports to come out ahead, whereas Golden Guardians mentally bombed after throwing away a sure win on map one. While you can only beat what’s in front of you, the eye test proves that NRG didn’t do anything spectacular. They played the better League and took advantage of the opportunities presented, but that will be much more difficult to do against Cloud9.

NRG Esports are like Weibo Gaming from the LoL Pro League (LPL); they can lose to anyone, but they somehow find ways to win when faced with stronger opponents. However, as fun as it is to cheer on the outsiders, Cloud9 shouldn’t be losing games like this.

C9 are far more consistent than the likes of Team Liquid and Golden Guardians, and as long as they keep playing their game, a 3-0 sweep isn’t entirely unlikely.

DIGNITAS vs GOLDEN GUARDIANS LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Best Odds: Dignitas -400 at BetOnline | GG +275 at BetOnline When: August 11, 2023 | 14:00 PDT Watch Live: Lolesports, Twitch

The 2023 LCS Championship continues this Friday with Dignitas taking on Golden Guardians in the second round of the lower bracket.

NRG Esports’ upset victories against Team Liquid (3-1) and Golden Guardians (3-1) created chaos in the race for the LCS crown. Because of how weak NRG looked throughout the regular season, Liquid and GG have both been knocked down a tier in the market’s eyes – but that only benefits us.

It’s hard to figure out why Golden Guardians were so bad against NRG last Sunday. The only possible explanation is that GG mentally bombed after choking the first map, where they had a +4k gold difference at 15 minutes. Golden Guardians bounced back in game three, but they didn’t look like themselves after the first map.

For this match, we don’t have to try answering what Dignitas can do, but whether Golden Guardians can bounce back. We know GG are much stronger than Dignitas – we have the head-to-head record (2-0) and performance metrics to confirm it – but there are no guarantees that they’ll show it.

The gap between these two teams is large enough to question why Dignitas are not priced higher than +275 with League of Legends betting sites. They’ve accomplished nothing this split, and even their 3-2 victory over TSM in the first round of LCS 2023 Championship was hardly worth celebrating.

As long as Golden Guardians pull themselves together, they should crush Dignitas, but we’ll tame our expectations and take GG to cover the 1.5-map handicap.

?Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses will clash on Thursday, August 10, in the lower bracket of the LCS 2023 Championship. The winner will advance to the third round and take one step closer to securing a ticket for the LoL World Championship 2023.

Evil Geniuses played well against Cloud9 on Saturday and had the upper hand in games one and three, yet still lost 0-3. Despite how bad the final results look, EG proved they can go toe-to-toe with one of the top League of Legends teams in North America.

Team Liquid kicked off the LCS 2023 Championship with a tough 1-3 defeat against NRG Esports but bounced back with a commanding 3-1 victory over 100 Thieves. While 100T are not a strong team, Liquid looked far more methodical in that series and showed massive improvement in their late-game decision-making – but will that be enough to defeat EG?

Evil Geniuses defeated Team Liquid twice during the LCS 2023 Summer regular season, and according to the latest LoL betting odds, they should do it again. But even though it’s hard to doubt Evil Geniuses, Team Liquid seem to have figured things out, which leads us to believe this match can go the distance.

Team Liquid will have a chance to show their title credentials when they take on NRG Esports this Friday in the 2023 LCS Championship.

Liquid finished the LCS 2023 Summer regular season in fourth place, with a 56% win rate (10-8), which isn’t the most inspiring record. But this team is a sleeping giant and one of the most underrated squads entering the playoffs.

Team Liquid boast some of the league’s most impressive performance figures, including a +2241 gold differential at 15 minutes. To put it into perspective, the second-best team on that list and the favourites to win the LCS crown, Cloud9, have a +1226 GD@15. Liquid also rank first in Herald control (72.2% ), Drake control (63.9%), first tower rate (77.8%), average towers destroyed (7.6), and total damage per minute (2542).

Liquid’s record against elite teams isn’t the best – they lost against Golden Guardians and Evil Geniuses in the final week of the split. But TL have all the tools to make a deep run and potentially win the League of Legends Championship Series crown.

NRG Esports, meanwhile, are one of the most overhyped teams in the league. Their performance metrics are pretty poor, and the only thing saving them from being regarded as a weak team is their solid record against the top LCS squads.

Known as the ‘giant killers’, NRG Esports have won most of their games this split against top-five teams, including against Cloud9 and Golden Guardians in the final two weeks of the LCS 2023 Summer split. However, they’ve also suffered defeats against weaker opposition, such as Immortals, 100 Thieves, TSM, and Dignitas.

NRG’s status as a team that regularly does well against better opponents makes them an interesting underdog pick, but winning a best-of-one and winning a best-of-three are two entirely different things. Barring any surprises, Team Liquid should make it past NRG Esports comfortably.

EVIL GENIUSES vs TSM LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Best Odds: EG -500 at BetOnline | TSM +333 at BetOnline When: July 27, 2023 | 14:00 PDT Watch Live: Lolesports, Twitch

The LCS 2023 Championship kicks off on Thursday, July 27, with a clash between Evil Geniuses and TSM. The two North American LoL esports teams have met twice this split, and both games ended in EG’s favour.

Evil Geniuses finished the regular season in third place with a 12-6 record, four wins above TSM, who placed sixth with 8-10. But even though Evil Geniuses have won more games, it’s fair to question whether they deserve to be priced as -500 favourites for this match.

TSM have been middling for most of the regular season, but they’ve delivered a few good games. They rank mid-table across most performance metrics and tend to be volatile in the early game, which they’ll have to work on if they wish to do well in the playoffs.

Evil Geniuses looked excellent midway through the split, and they had a real chance to compete for the no.1 spot, but they started to crack in Week 5 when they lost against Golden Guardians, FlyQuest, and Cloud9. And it was easy to see what led to their slump.

Evil Geniuses are vulnerable in the early game, and when teams disrupt their flow before the 15-minute mark, they struggle to get back in the game. Fortunately for them, TSM’s early game hasn’t been that potent, and while we can expect them to do their research and hit EG where it hurts them the most, they might not have the tools to do it.

Evil Geniuses can sweep this series, but TSM should be good for at least one map. As such, we’re taking a chance on the correct score market.

Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen qualified for the League of Legends World Championship for the eighth consecutive time after Cloud9 defeated Evil Geniuses 3-1 in the LCS Championship on Sunday, surpassing a global record that he had previously shared with his longtime teammate Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi.

Following eight consecutive performances overall, the 27-year-old Danish player will tie the record for most Worlds appearances when he shows up at the 2022 World Championship. Yiliang “Peter” Peng, popularly known as Doublelift, and a member of Team Liquid, has made eight appearances at the competition as well.

Jensen competed in his first World Championship in 2015, when he was only 20 years old, with Cloud9. He had taken over the role of the squad’s former strategist and mid laner, Hai, who was retiring at the time. During his time with the organization, he qualified for the World Championships in 2016, 2017, and 2018. He then went on to qualify for the World Championships with Team Liquid for the next three consecutive years, 2019 through 2021. During that span of time, he won the first of his two LCS titles and qualified for the MSI Finals in 2019, before rejoining Cloud9 in 2022.

Given that Jensen was not even playing for a team during the Spring Split, this accomplishment carries a little bit more weight than it normally would in this season’s competition. Even though he had held the role for three years and had a wonderful performance at Worlds 2021, S?ren “Bjergsen” Bjerg was brought in to replace him as the mid laner for Liquid. Hence, he did not participate in the Spring of 2022.

After the dismal performance of Cloud9 during the Spring Split, the organization decided to bring back one of its former mid laners to fill the void left by Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami, who had moved back to the top lane following the departure of LCS 2022 Spring MVP and top laner, Park “Summit” Woo-tae, from the team.

Despite having comparatively less performance during the Summer Split, Cloud9 prevailed over the North American team, CLG, in a five-game series during the first round of the LCS Championship. They then secured their spot at Worlds for the eighth time in the last decade by claiming an unexpected win over the top-seeded Evil Geniuses.

Prior to Team Vitality’s seventh-place finish in the 2018 LEC Summer Split, mid laner Luka “Perkz” Perkovi? had qualified for the World Championships six times in a row while playing for G2 and Cloud9. Therefore, the Team Liquid support player Jo “CoreJJ” Yong currently holds the record for the longest active Worlds streak, which is at six. However, Team Liquid’s winning streak will come to an end if they are unable to defeat both CLG and the team that wins the match between Evil Geniuses and TSM.

This year, you can watch Jensen and the rest of Cloud9 compete in the World Championships on either the play-in stage in Mexico City on September 29 or the group stage at Madison Square Garden in New York City on October 7. Visit GG.Bet to see all the odds on the World Championship.

TSM and FlyQuest will clash in the first round of the LCS 2022 Championship lower bracket on Thursday, August 25.

FlyQuest dropped down to the LCS 2022 Championship lower bracket when they lost against Team Liquid (1-3) last Saturday in the opening fixture of the playoffs. FlyQuest played well, and they deserve some recognition for their performance, but they were ultimately outmatched by a superior team.

Their next opponents, TSM, should offer far less resistance than Liquid, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that FlyQuest are in for an easy series. On the contrary, this match could be much closer than expected.

TSM are not the powerhouse they once were, but they have some solid pieces, namely their jungler Mingyi “Spica” Lu. The mid-bot is a problem, though, and it’s hard to imagine TSM doing well in those lanes, knowing how poorly those matchups went in their last meeting with FlyQuest a couple of weeks back.

Despite all that, TSM have a realistic chance of winning or at least forcing a tight series, mainly because Spica is a beast in playoffs and can secure his team a map or two on his own. From there, it will come down to how well TSM will play as a unit or whether FlyQuest will slip. There are a lot of possible scenarios, but a 3-2 victory for FlyQuest is a tempting bet.
