Finnish esports organization HAVU officially announced Sami “?xseveN?” Laasanen’s retirement from the Counter-Strike competitive scene on Friday, ending his three-year stint with the team.

In a statement, HAVU revealed that xseveN’s decision was due to a lack of motivation to continue playing in the competitive scene. The player clarified that neither the team nor his teammates had any influence on his decision to stop playing.

xseveN will remain on HAVU for the upcoming two events and officially end his relationship with the team after the conclusion of the Elisa Esports eSM 2023 in August. The team are part of the four squads to participate in the event’s opening round next month.

Lasse Salminen, HAVU’s CEO, released a statement bidding xseveN farewell and thanking the player for his contributions to the organization over the past years.

“xseveN had an important role in HAVU by having a lot of experience and knowledge in CS. We want to wish him luck for the future and thank him for the three years. I’ll be missing him but the friendship stays, thank you Sami,” Salminen said.

The news marks the end of xseveN 11-year career, which spanned CS:S and CS:GO eras. Prior to joining HAVU, xseveN played on lineups like ENCE, RCTIC, LGR, iGame.com, and Epiphany Bolt.

The player’s time on ENCE was one of his most notable, winning the StarSeries i-League Season 6 and DreamHack Open Winter 2018 tournaments. At the time, xseveN played alongside top players like Aleksi “?Aleksib?” Virolainen and Aleksi “?allu?” Jalli.

The lineup were also integral to ENCE’s deep run in the Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2019. The team beat out squads like Natus Vincere and Team Liquid during the event to reach the grand finals. They eventually lost to Astralis, who was crowned the champion of the event.

xseveN also claimed the BLAST Pro Series Madrid 2019 trophy while with ENCE. The player eventually left the Finnish organization in August 2020 in favor of HAVU. He spent three years on the lineup before the recent announcement.

On Monday, HAVU announced that Olli “?sLowi?” Pitk?nen would rejoin their Counter-Strike team on a permanent basis.

The Finnish player joined HAVU a week earlier as a temporary replacement for their long-time player Jani “?Aerial?” Jussila. Last week, Aerial announced that he was taking time off active play to attend to his health.

In an announcement video on Twitter, sLowi revealed that rather than his previous role as in-game leader, he would take a more low-key position this time and focus on dealing as much damage as possible.

“Last time in HAVU I was in-game leading, this time I don’t need to do it. It sure helps me to focus in my own game as my role will be just trying to kill everyone,” the player said.

HAVU did not disclose when sLowi’s contract would end, nor the date Aerial would return to the lineup.

SLowi previously played with HAVU from 2018 to 2022, counting approximately 1,000 maps with the team in different roles. The player was benched from the squad and eventually released in the second half of 2022.

Following his departure, sLowi signed to Aleksi “allu” Jalli’s JANO and played alongside Lasse “?ZOREE?” Uronen and Slaava “?Twista?” R?s?nen. He posted a 1.04 average rating during his time on the team, ranking second only to allu.

SLowi rejoins HAVU to play alongside Otto “?ottoNd?” Sihvo, Sami “?xseveN?” Laasanen, Jussi “?Airax?” Airaksinen and Matias “?Banjo?” Kivist?, with Mikko “?xartE?” V?limaa as head coach.

HAVU were unable to qualify for any major LAN tournament this year. The team previously topped events like the Elisa Open Finland Season 3 Finals, Pelaajat Series Fall 2022, and Pelaajat Series Spring Showoff 2023, while they also reached the CCT North Europe Series 2 finals.

The upcoming CCT 2023 Online Finals 1 will see HAVU tackle the European tier-two circuit. They enter the online event as one of the lowest-ranked teams, earning an invite after placing fourth in the Champion of Champion Tour’s Northern Europe section.

HAVU will kick off their CCT Online Finals campaign against FORZE on May 22 at 15:30 EEST. The Finns are priced as +337 outsiders in the match betting, with FORZE paying -188.68 at BetOnline.

HAVU Counter Strike rifler Jani “Aerial” Jussila announced his departure from the lineup and active play on Wednesday due to sleeping difficulties.

In a statement, Aerial revealed that he was struggling to keep up with the current level of pro CS:GO due to his sleep disorder and would take time off until he recovered.

“I have decided to move aside from HAVU’s CS:GO roster due to years of sleep problems. I find it impossible to succeed at the moment. The level of professional CS is currently very high, and you can’t keep up there with a few hours of sleep a day,” Aerial said.

“I’m not actively looking to play in a team before I have solved my sleeping problems. I wish my teammates the best of luck for the future.”

HAVU also expressed their support for Aerial in the release, thanking him for his contributions and calling the player a “veteran in the green shirt.”

“Jani [Aerial] has announced that the time has come to put playing competitively on hold for now due sleeping problems,” they wrote.

“HAVU fully supports his decision and wishes him all the best and we hope that some day he might join to play once again.”

The player started with HAVU in early 2021 and has been a part of the team for over two years. He was a part of ENCE for two years before the transfer and has remained one of HAVU’s most consistent players over the years.

Aerial recorded an impressive 1.09 rating over 459 maps during his stint and helped the team lead a remarkable run in the 2022 Elisa Masters Espoo. The event was one of the two international competitions the team participated in.

Despite Aerial’s efforts, HAVU did not show any significant improvement and failed to qualify for the concluded BLAST.tv Paris Major RMRs. They were eliminated from the last chance qualifier following a loss to 500. This led to some roster changes that took Joonas “?doto?” Forss off the team.

The organization revealed that Olli “sLowi” Pitk?nen would fill in for Aerial until they reach a more permanent arrangement.

sLowi was on HAVU for four years, playing as the team’s stand-in from 2018 to 2022. Prior to his return, sLowi played alongside Aleksi “?allu?” Jalli on JANO, recording the second-best rating at 1.04, behind allu’s 1.14.

HAVU’s current lineup includes sLowi, Sami “?xseveN?” Laasanen, Matias “?Banjo?” Kivist?, Jussi “?Airax?” Airaksinen, and Otto “?ottoNd?” Sihvo with Mikko “?xartE?” V?limaa as head coach.

HAVU will debut their new lineup on May 24 in the Elisa Invitational Spring 2023. The team are set to resume their run in the competition, where they currently boast a 1-1 record.

The post Doto removes himself from HAVU’s CS:GO roster appeared first on Esport Bet.

]]>
Former ENCE player Joonas “doto” Forss has taken himself off HAVU’s active Counter-Strike lineup following the Finnish esports organization’s failure to qualify for the BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023 Europe RMR.

HAVU announced the player’s decision on Thursday, revealing that Jussi “?Airax?” Airaksinen will temporarily play in his stead.

“@dotocsgo has decided to bench himself from the active CS:GO roster,” the organization revealed.

“For the time being, @airaxcsgo will be standing in for the matches this week.”

Doto also took to social media to announce his decision, quoting HAVU’s post with “Benching myself” and a link to a Twitlonger explaining why.

“This whole HAVU project has been a rollercoaster from the very beginning with seemingly high highs but never in my career have I encountered such lows. I started this project with very high motivation and the spark to re-establish the finnish scene in the higher tiers of CS but ultimately I failed in this,” doto wrote.

The Finnish rifler further revealed that his biggest struggle while on HAVU was that he did not feel respected as a captain, and on certain occasions, his input was ignored. Doto promised to put his knowledge and experience to good use in the future, but in the meantime, he would take time off to rest and reset mentally. He signed off by asking interested teams to contact him.

Doto’s decision comes after spending six months at HAVU as the team’s in-game leader. If the move is made permanent, this would be his second time leaving HAVU. The player left the team in 2020 to join ENCE and returned to the lineup in late 2022.

During doto’s time as in-game leader, HAVU did not record any international success; however, they won a number of domestic events, like the Elisa Open Finland Season 3 Finals and the Pelaajat Series Fall 2022.

HAVU’s best result was their grand final appearance at the CCT North Europe Series 2 towards the end of 2022, where they were beaten by ENCE. In January, the team peaked, reaching No.30 in the CS:GO world rankings; however, their repeated roster changes and poor results have dropped the squad down to 50th spot.

Doto is the third player moved to HAVU’s bench in under a month. At the start of February, Jarkko “?spargo?” Rahja and Jesse “?zehN?” Linjala were both taken off the roster. The players were replaced with ex-Fnatic player Matias “?Banjo?” Kivist? and Otto “?ottoNd?” Sihvo.

The organization’s new player, Airax, will play in the Elisa Invitational Winter 2023 as well as the Pelaajat Series Spring Showoff 2023.

HAVU’s current CS:GO roster features Jani “?Aerial?” Jussila, Sami “?xseveN?” Laasanen, ?ottoNd?”Sihvo?, Banjo?, ?and Airax as stand-in. Mikko “?xartE?” V?limaa remains the team’s head coach.

The temporary roster will make its debut against Monte on Thursday in the Elisa Invitational Winter 2023.

HAVU Gaming has announced some changes to its Counter-Strike: Global Offensive roster.

The changes include the addition of former ENCE captain Joonas “doto” Forss, former FunPlux Phoenix rifler Jesse “zehN” Linjala, up-and-coming sniper Jarkko “Spargo” Rahja and veteran Mikko “xartE” V?limaa as the new head coach of the all-Finnish CS:GO team.

In a bid to rebuild the team around riflers Jani “Aerial” Jussila and Sami “xseveN” Laasanen, HAVU benched Joona “Sm1llee” Holmstr?m, Otto “ottoNd” Sihvo, and Olli “sLowi” Pitk?nen a few weeks ago, to create room for the new signings.

After experiencing consistently poor performances in the first half of 2022, the Finnish organization hopes the additions will raise the quality level of the squad during competitions.

Both zehN and doto are reunited with HAVU as a result of the move. Doto joined the franchise in 2019 and represented its CS:GO esports team until the end of 2020 when he left to join fellow Finnish franchise, ENCE.

With his experience and the leadership skilla, the 26-year old has been made the in-game leader.

While the former FPX rifle, zehN represented HAVU for less than a year from May 3, 2018, to January 17, 2019. After his time with HAVU, he has since played for four different franchises.

Spargo joined the franchise after two years with KOVA Esports. Prior to KOVA, he had represented two other franchises, Team Viral and hREDS (formerly known as Helsinki Reds).

Reacting to re-signing with HAVU Gaming, Zehn spoke highly of the franchise. He shared his long-time desire to play alongside Aerial and xseveN, as he looks forward to raising the level of the Finnish CS:GO scene.

I get to play in many maps the same roles that I played with international teams, zehN said.

In some maps, however, my roles have changed and it gives more power in terms of learning. The first trainings have gone well and I have enjoyed playing. Returning to Finnish CS has been refreshing and I’ve always wanted to play with Aerial and XSEVEN anyway. I believe that we have a great package to raise Finnish CS to a new level.

Spargo, who happens to be the youngest player on the roster, said:

With a very good feeling, I go to play with such experienced teammates. I want to learn new things, but also bring my own thoughts to the team’s play. Expectations are of course high, but I try to focus only on my own performance. I feel that we have the potential all the way to the top.

HAVU has been the best CS:GO team in Finland since ENCE went into international space. Last year, Aerial and xseveN helped get the squad to a new height, attaining the 14th place position in the world according to the HLTV rankings, after winning Snow Sweet Snow Two in April 2021.

HAVU, on the other hand, was unable to replicate those results and thus failed to make the list of qualified teams for the PGL Stockholm Major in 2021 as well as this year’s PGL Antwerp Major.

It is expected that zehN, doto, Spargo, and coach xartE will make their HAVU debuts in August at the Assembly Summer 2022 LAN tournament in Finland.

PACT vs HAVU LOOT.BET/CS SEASON 7 BETTING PREVIEW

PACT and HAVU are set to clash on Tuesday in the first round of LOOT.BET/CS Season 7 playoffs, where they will duke it out for a spot in the quarter-finals and a guaranteed US $1,250 in tournament winnings.

PACT scraped into the playoffs by the skin of their teeth after finishing the regular season in sixth place with a 3-2 record. Dawid “IunAtic” Cie?lak and co. produced volatile results in the early stages of the competition, mixing 0-2 loss to both Apeks and Nordavind with 2-1 wins over SKADE, ESPADA and FATE Esports.

It’s worth noting that those fixtures took place way back in June and early July, so they hardly show PACT’s true form ahead of the playoffs. Instead, we have to look at their most recent results, which include 27 games played across seven events.

Despite their relatively low win percentage across the last two months (44.4%), PACT managed a successful run through Intel Extreme Masters XV New York Online European Open Qualifier, where they finished in third place.

Other notably results include a 2-1 win against Team GamerLegion, a 16-13 win against Heretics, a three-map series against OG and a 16-13 win against MiBR. Consistency, however, is not PACT’s strong suit, since they have produced more than a handful of iffy results against weaker sides.

Unlike PACT, who dragged their way through the LOOT.BET/CS Season 7 group stage, HAVU had a fairly easy time securing their spot in the playoffs. They began their journey through the competition with a 1-2 loss to Gambit Youngsters, to which they added 2-0 sweeps against Wisla Krakow, HONORIS and Hard4U.

Those three teams have proven to be some of the weakest in the field, so it’s difficult to praise HAVU too much for those results. In any case, those outcomes don’t hold any weight since they were played over two months ago.

Since completing their run through the LOOT.BET/CS Season 7 group stage, HAVU have attended four tournaments and played 14 matches. Out of those 14, they lost only four, going down to Nemiga (0-2), Hard Legion (1-2), KOVA (1-2) and AGO (1-2).

HAVU managed a fifth-sixth place finish at Hellcase Cup #8, which is a solid result considering they were knocked out by eventual finalists Hard Legion. They also claimed a runner-up finish at Finnish Esports League Season 8 and won FunSpark ULTI 2020 Europe.

As it stands now, HAVU are still in the running at the Elisa CS:GO Finnish Championship, where Eetu “sAw” Saha and co. have already secured a spot in the playoffs as the top seed in Group A.

HAVU are 8-2 in their last 10 games and will enter this match on a seven-game win streak that includes high-profile victims such as c0ntact (2-0), x6tence (2-1), Sprout (2-1), AGO (2-0) and forZe (2-1).

PACT vs HAVU LOOT.BET/CS SEASON 7 BETTING PREVIEW

There is no going around the fact that HAVU are in much better shape than PACT ahead of this bout. The CS:GO betting odds reflect that, but we think the favourites could be priced even shorter.

PACT are capable but inconsistent, which makes it hard to trust them to deliver. Their 16-13 win over MiBR on Wednesday makes it seem like PACT have found their form, although it would not be fair to rank the Brazilians as a top-tier team based on their recent results.

The -1.5 handicap in these B-Tier online tournaments is rarely the best option, as many fixtures tend to be relatively close. At +142, however, we will gladly take our chances on HAVU to continue their streak and hand PACT their third consecutive loss.

HAVU vs HONORIS LOOT.BET/CS Season 7 BETTING PREVIEW

HAVU Gaming and HONORIS will meet for the first time in history this Thursday in the final fixture of Round 3 Mid Matches at LOOT.BET/CS Season 7.

HAVU enter this clash placed seventh in the LOOT.BET/CS Season 7 standings. They lost their opening fixture of the tournament against Gambit Youngsters and won their second against Wisla Krakow last Wednesday.

Eetu “sAw” Saha and his crew recently concluded their runs through the ESL Pro League Season 12: European Qualifier, Rainmaker Open and #HomeSweetHome: Week 7 with varying degrees of success. The Finnish squad won the Rainmaker Open, but they finished ninth-12th at #HomeSweetHome: Week 7 and fifth-sixth at the ESL Pro League Season 12: European Qualifier. In late May, HAVU also won BLAST Rising, a month after claiming a top-three finish at the inaugural season of FLASHPOINT.

Overall, HAVU have produced solid results in 2020 and it seems like the online format suits them. While they left a lot to be desired in the last two editions of #HomeSweetHome, they defeated OG and North last week in ESL Pro League S12 qualifying.

HONORIS are a newly established Polish squad built around two Counter-Strike esports veterans in Wiktor “TaZ” Wojtas and Filip “NEO” Kubski, who teamed up with Daniel “STOMP” P?omiski, Kamil “reiko” Cegie?ko and Wojciech “Prism” Zi?ba.

Since the inception of HONORIS in May, they have played only 13 competitive matches and failed to see much success. The Poles have won only 30.8% of their games, which is not all too promising, but they produced solid showings in their 16-6 win over Complexity Gaming at #HomeSweetHome: Week 7 and their 2-0 win against Wisla Krakow at LOOT.BET/CS.

In their last five games, HONORIS defeated Japaleno (16-12) and Copenhagen Flames (2-1) but lost to Illuminar (1-2), Complexity (1-2) and ALTERNATE aTTaX (0-2).

HAVU vs HONORIS LOOT.BET/CS Season 7 BETTING PREDICTIONS

Although this will be the first match between these two sides, it’s not hard to see why HAVU Gaming are priced as massive favourites. Although the Finns have slowed down in recent weeks and don’t look as solid as they did at FLASHPOINT, they are still a level above HONORIS.

Despite their occasional flashes of greatness, the individual performances of HONORIS’ players are not too inspiring. Prism (0.89), TaZ (0.91) and NEO (0.95) are all producing below-average numbers, while STOMP (1.03) and reiko (1.07) are the only two players with positive ratings.

HAVU, meanwhile, boast a 1.04 average rating across all five members. Olli “sLowi” Pitk?nen (1.12) and Lasse “ZOREE” Uronen (1.14) have both been performing well in recent months, but all the eyes will be on Aaro “hoody” Peltokangas after he recorded a massive 1.60 average rating against Wisla Krakow on Wednesday.

HAVU also have much stronger map pool, as they hold better records on Dust II (63% – 33%), Mirage (44% – 40%), Nuke (71% – 29%), Train (77% – 20%) and Overpass (50% – 0%). The only two maps where HONORIS hold an advantage are Inferno (50% – 0%) and Vertigo (60% – 44%), but we can expect HAVU to ban Inferno and they should still edge out a win on Vertigo if HONORIS decide to pick it.

There is not a lot going for HONORIS here. This team is well below the level of HAVU, who should win this match without any issues.

SJ GAMING vs HAVU GAMING RAINMAKER OPEN BETTING PREVIEW

SJ Gaming will clash with HAVU Gaming this Saturday for a spot in the Rainmaker Open finals and a shot at the 22,000 (~US $25,000) grand prize.

HAVU have been quite successful since the Counter-Strike esports scene transitioned to the online format. They won Assembly Winter 2020 and Lantrek 2020 in February, won a bronze medal at FLASHPOINT Season 1 in April, and hoisted the BLAST Rising trophy in May.

However, HAVU failed to show up at the sixth and seventh seasons of #HomeSweetHome, where they finished only ninth-12th. And although Eetu “sAw” Saha and co. lead Finnish Esports League Season 8 with a 6-1 series record and 231-145 map differential, it’s hard to praise them too much for dominating a bunch of B-Tier and semi-professional teams.

HAVU have produced an impressive 17-7 record since FLASHPOINT, but they have managed only two wins out of their last seven games, which include losses against Heroic, SJ Gaming, Endpoint and a pair of defeats to Gambit Youngsters.

SJ Gaming have not seen as much success as their regional rivals this year, but that’s not to say Tony “arvid” Niemel? and co. have looked particularly bad. After their failed attempt to make it through the FLASHPOINT European Open qualifiers at the start of February, they clawed their way to a semi-finals appearance at Assembly Winter 2020 and a week later made it to the grand finals of Lantrek 2020, where they eventually lost to HAVU.

In March, SJ Gaming took a swing at ESEA Season 33: Advanced Division – Europe, where they left a lot to be desired with a 13th-16th finish. However, they bounced back by claiming a silver medal at Telia Esports Series Season 3 last month.

Since then, SJ Gaming have competed in the ESEA Season 34: Advanced Division – Europe: Regular Season, where they sit in 19th place with a 6-4 record; Finnish Esports League Season 8, where they sit fifth at 4-3; and the Rainmaker Open, where they hold fourth place at 3-1.

Despite not winning a single title since October 2019, when arvid’s crew won Finnish Esports League Season 7, SJ Gaming have shown they can make some noise at B-Tier level. Having said that, inconsistency is still a huge issue for this team, making them a hit-or-miss pick in most of their fixtures.

SJ Gaming enter this match with 10-9 record from their last 19 fixtures and a slightly more promising 3-2 record from their last five.

SJ GAMING vs HAVU GAMING RAINMAKER OPEN BETTING PREDICTIONS

Esports bookmakers have priced HAVU as huge favourites for this bout. Their form over the last few months is far better than that of SJ Gaming, who have a few big concerns.

SJ recently lost to CrazyCoco (0-2) and Aalborg Rebels (10-16), who are both amateur teams. On Monday, arvid and his crew also struggled against Alltech Esports (16-13), who held an 11-8 lead before their pro opponents woke up and turned the game around.

Adding to the list of issues we have with SJ Gaming is the inclusion of stand-in player Aarne “tekane” Vuoriso, who will replace Toni “STOVVE” Liukkonen for Saturday’s match.

If we put all together, there is not a lot going for SJ Gaming. While they defeated HAVU (2-1) just over a week ago in the Finnish Esports League, the losing team’s sloppy plays suggest they did not put too much effort into that match.

This is still an online match, meaning an upset isn’t out of the question, but HAVU are the better team in every sense and should win easily.

HAVU have been announced as the replacement team for SKADE at the FLASHPOINT Season 1 LAN Qualifiers due to the latter side’s failure to acquire the proper visas to travel to the United States.

The announcement surfaced on Saturday, February 29, when Denislav “dennyslaw” Dimitrov took to social media to explain the situation.

SKADE were initially advised by their legal counsel to apply for B1/B2 visas. They actually needed P1 visas, for which the Bulgarian side no longer had enough time to apply.

“It sucks that an officer’s mistake can destroy such an opportunity for a young team. With such a short amount of time, we gave it our all and tried everything that can be done even though the odds were against us,” said dennyslaw.

Despite the team’s and organisers’ attempts to rectify the situation, SKADE have been unsuccessful in their bid to obtain the needed documentation to travel to Los Angeles and compete in what might have been one of the biggest events in the organisation’s history.

“Last few days we barely slept just to try negotiating urgent interviews, refilling documents and stuff, trying to figure out how we can get express delivery for the visas so we catch our flights and etc.,” added dennyslaw.

“Sadly there is nothing we can do even though the lawyers we reached proved that the law shows we were right about choosing the b1/b2 category for a tournament that includes prize money and there was nothing wrong with the documentation at all.”

In the same post, dennyslaw also unveiled SKADE will be replaced by HAVU at the Los Angeles event, although the Finnish side placed only seventh-eighth at the European qualifiers. HAVU will be one of four CS:GO esports teams to represent the European region, besides AVEZ, Copenhagen Flames and BIG.

Lasse “ZOREE” Uronen and his squad will be seeded into Group B with Copenhagen Flames, Chaos Esports Club and Redemption POA. Their opening match at the FLASHPOINT qualifiers will be played on Tuesday, March 3 when they face off against Chaos Esports Club.

The qualifiers for the inaugural season of FLASHPOINT will run from March 3-5, featuring USD $64,000 in the prize pool as well as two tickets to the main event. There, 12 teams will duke it out for the largest slice of $1 million and the title of Season 1 FLASHPOINT champions.

SPROUT VS HAVU UNITED MASTERS LEAGUE BETTING PREVIEW

The semi-finals of United Masters League Season 2 will kick off this Wednesday with a clash between Sprout and HAVU.

Both have taken turbulent roads through the tournament, yet they showed up when it mattered. Sprout decimated BIG in the quarter-finals, while HAVU edged past Illuminar Gaming.

Sprout have had a very busy month, as they were forced to make some roster changes after the departure of Florian “syrsoN” Rische and Nils “k1to” Gruhne to BIG. Pawe? “dycha” Dycha and Tom? “oskar” ??astny came in as replacements, although there was some uncertainty around both signings.

In their match against BIG, Sprout secured a comfortable 16-11 win on Dust II thanks to incredible performances from Josef “faveN” Baumann and Denis “denis” Howell, who averaged 1.14 and 1.62 ratings respectively. On BIG’s side, no player besides syrsoN (1.44) ended the first map with a positive rating.

Vertigo was a much more even contest that went all the way to 42 rounds, but it was Sprout who came out on top yet again. This time it was their IGL Timo “Spiidi” Richter who shook everyone with his 1.33 rating, outperforming the likes of faveN (1.11), Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz (1.23) and syrsoN (1.17).

HAVU failed to see much success in their opening three fixtures of the UM League. They lost to forZe and Aristocracy but defeated Hard Legion, which left their chances of advancing into the playoffs hanging by a thread. Nonetheless, HAVU stepped up when it counted and bested Team Ancient and GamerLegion to punch their ticket for the second stage of the tournament.

In the quarter-finals, HAVU met with Illuminar in what we predicted to be a bloody fight for survival, and it proved to be exactly that. Illuminar started the series by picking Overpass, where bested HAVU 16-13, but failed to see the same success on Train, where they set themselves up nicely to seal the series but dropped the ball and let HAVU catch up and win the map 19-16 in overtime.

On Nuke, the teams went back and forth, and it seemed like the match could end either way. That said, HAVU stars Joonas “doto” Forss and Lasse “ZOREE” Uronen showed up big time and carried their team to a victory, putting up 1.46 and 1.43 ratings respectively.

Since their clash with Illuminar, HAVU made an appearance at DreamHack Open Anaheim 2020 Europe Open and Closed Qualifiers. They made it through the open qualifiers, where they defeated MELBET and Team Spirit, but fell flat in the closed qualifiers against GODSENT.

SPROUT VS HAVU UNITED MASTERS LEAGUE SEMI-FINAL PREDICTIONS

Sprout and HAVU have not met since the ESEA S31 Premier Division – Europe regular season in May 2019, where HAVU won 16-14. That said, a lot has changed since, so we can’t take that result into account in this prediction.

Since May, HAVU have signed doto and appointed a new head coach in Taneli “diSTURBED” Veikkola. Sprout, meanwhile, have signed four new members in denis, oskar, dycha, and Niclas “enkay J” Krumhorn as head coach.

Sprout might be favourites with most esports betting sites, but we can’t agree with the odds. Against BIG we saw the new arrivals oskar and dycha struggling to keep up, having finished the series with 0.98 and 0.99 ratings respectively. The only reason Sprout won on that day was the impressive play of Spiidi and denis.

That Spiidi and denis have averaged 0.98 and 0.95 ratings over the past three months suggests they simply had a day out against BIG. The question is whether they can repeat that form in the semis.

This bout won’t be as one-sided as the odds suggest. Expect all three maps to be played, as neither side showed enough in the earlier rounds to make us believe they are capable of a clean sweep.

Prediction: Over 2.5 maps – +107 at BetOnline
