The Seattle Surge let go of their entire Call of Duty League (CDL) team on Monday, following the expiration of their contracts.

The North American esports organisation bid farewell to their CDL head coach, general manager, and team analyst in a series of posts just a day after the League’s free agency period started.

In a farewell address to the head coach, the Seattle Surge wrote, “For the last two seasons, we’ve been guided by the best in @FenixSRS. The passion you brought daily to this team was key to our development, and for that, we’re forever grateful. Thanks, coach.”

The organization also parted ways with their entire lineup, which included Amer “Pred” Zulbeari, Daunte “Sib” Gray, Makenzie “Mack” Kelley, and Lamar “Accuracy” Abedi. The quartet was responsible for the brightest period in the group’s history.

“Thank you, @Pred. Your presence was felt across the League the moment you entered it. We’re immensely proud to be a part of your journey and look forward to watching you dominate for years to come,” the Seattle Surge tweeted.

A second post addressed to Accuracy read, “Lamar, from the jump you’ve brought unmatched professionalism and showed us on a daily basis your complete commitment to the game. You’re an exceptional leader, and we’re glad to have followed. Thanks for everything, @AccuracyLA.”

The Seattle Surge also posted tweets directed at Sib and Mack, thanking them for their work ethic and for being great additions to the team.

The team’s general manager, John “Revan” Boble, announced earlier that “all of the contracts on the Surge” had come to a close, meaning he and the rest of the team were now free agents. He went on to ask interested parties to reach out to him.

Nicholas “Equuip” Viera also shared a farewell post on his Twitter where he revealed his contract was complete and thanked the Seattle Surge for his time with the team.

With all Surge players in free agency, Call of Duty fans are expecting teams to snatch them up in no time. Pred and Sid are set to join another organisation; however, while the former is rumoured to be on OpTic Texas’ watch list, there is currently no information about Sid’s next move.

According to reports from early in the season, OpTic Texas made serious attempts to buy Pred to replace Seth “Scump” Abner. The team claimed to have offered the Surge the “biggest buyout offer that has ever been” for Pred but were ultimately rejected.

The Surge opted to keep the player for the rest of the season but were unable to achieve as much success as they did in Major One, where the team placed second.

Accuracy and Mack will likely remain in free agency longer than the rest of the players. The duo bore the blame for most of the Surge’s disappointing performances during the season.

With Accuracy, Pred, Mack, and Sib, the Surge were able to reach a second-place finish in the Major One. The team also won the Major Three in 2022 and finished in third place during the 2022 CDL Championship. The Surge’s most recent achievement was a fourth-place finish in the 2023 CDL Championship in June.

Most teams have let go of several talented players already, meaning that the Seattle Surge will have little issue finding suitable replacements for their currently empty roster before the conclusion of the offseason.
