Damwon Gaming KIA, the South Korean esports franchise, has announced a rebranding ahead of the upcoming League of Legends LCK season. The franchise which is best known for its LOL team will now be known as Dplus KIA and will debut its new brand, including an updated logo, at the Season Kickoff event.

The press statement explained that the rebranding is a reflection of the franchise’s global ambitions and is expected to help it build a presence on the international stage. The new name keeps the letter “D” to give a nod to the franchise’s legacy while adding “plus” to represent an expansive potential for a bright future. KIA Motors, the team’s main sponsor, will remain in the name of the franchise.

Damwon Gaming KIA has a storied history in the world of League of Legends. The franchise has won Korea’s top-flight League of Legends league three times and also won the World Championship in 2020. The team is known for its skill and competitive spirit and has a dedicated fan base both in Korea and around the world.

In the year following its runner-up finish in 2021, the team had a difficult time until the Worlds where it staged a remarkable comeback and nearly defeated GenG. If it had not lost 2-3, the outcome of the 2022 Worlds tournament could have been altered drastically. The franchise is now aiming to reclaim its dominance in 2023 with the acquisition of the world champion ADC player, Deft, and will be doing so under yet another new name.

The Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of Dplus KIA, Joon young Lee, commented on the rebranding of the franchise and stated that it was time for the team to position itself as one of the most popular franchises in the universe.

“Dplus KIA is one of the most successful teams in the history of League of Legends and it’s time for our brand to take its rightful place amongst the most popular organisations in the world,” Lee said.

“We’re excited to create a new chapter in this organisation’s storied history with this phenomenal team and the bold projects we have in store for this year.”

The franchise did not announce any specifics about the upcoming projects, but it’s safe to assume that Dplus KIA will be looking to expand its reach and attract more fans from around the world. The team has already established itself as a dominant force in the Korean League of Legends scene, and with the rebranding, it seems that it will be looking to make an impact on the international stage as well.

It’s worth noting that this is the second name change for Damwon Gaming. The team was simply called Damwon Gaming from 2017 to 2020 before it changed its name to DWG KIA as a result of the partnership with leading South Korean car manufacturer KIA Motors.

In the competitive world of esports, teams are constantly looking for new ways to differentiate themselves and gain an edge over the competition. A rebranding can be a powerful tool in this regard, and Dplus KIA’s rebranding is a clear indication that the team is committed to evolving and expanding its reach. The franchise’s fans are excited to see what the future holds for Dplus KIA, and the team will surely be looking to build on its success and become a dominant force on the international stage.

Our first match-up for today brings us two teams trying to stay in touch with the top four teams in the LCK, with KT Rolster sitting in seventh-place with a 1-3 record and DAMWON Gaming sitting in fourth-place with a 2-2 record.

KT Rolster will begin this match against DAMWON Gaming coming off a close 0-2 defeat to SANDBOX Gaming which dropped them down into seventh-place. KT Rolster’s only win came against Brion Esports when they beat the last place team 2-0 back on match day one of week two. The team that finished seventh in the LCK Spring edition will be looking to improve and get back to the results they were showing in 2020 where they finished in fifth and sixth-place in the Spring and Summer Splits.

DAMWON Gaming won both of their two opening matches over Brion Esports and SANDBOX Gaming starting the Split off 2-0, but they have then gone on to lose their next two matches against Gen.G and T1. DWG started off the Split the way they would have liked, with two early convincing wins, but since losing to Gen.G and T1 some similarities to the Spring Split are appearing, as DWG weren’t able to compete with the top two teams in the LCK. Even though the boys from DWG are currently on a two-game losing streak, they will be looking to put a team like KT Rolster away quite quickly.

KT Rolster and DAMWON Gaming will be looking for a change in form here, with the latter trying to keep in touch with the undefeated top three teams. We will be going for a bit of value here by taking the match favourites at the match line of -1.5 at $2.10 with esports betting sites.

T1 vs DRX LoL BETTING & MATCH DETAILS

Best Odds: T1 -277.78 at BetOnline | DRX +200 at BetOnline
When: July 1, 2022 | 19:00 KST
Watch Live: Lolesports, Twitch

The second match of the day brings us two undefeated teams that both sit in equal first-place with T1 taking on DRX. Both teams will enter the match-up with 8 maps won and only one map lost meaning there is nothing separating these two rosters.

T1, the reigning LCK champions and record setting roster from the LCK Spring Split has started their LCK Summer Split just how they ended their last, in winning ways. They became the first team ever in the LCK to go undefeated throughout an entire Split finishing 20-0 and taking out the LCK Spring title. After only registering four Group-Stage MVPs throughout the LCK Spring Split, Choi “Zeus” Woo-je has started off very strong with four MVPs from T1s first four games showing that this team has stars in every single lane this Split. Meaning they won’t be relying on Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong and Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok like they usually do.

DRX who sit in equal first-place with a 4-0 record after recording wins over; Nongshim RedForce, Brion Esports, Hanwha Life Esports and Kwangdong Freecs. DRX are coming off a fourth-place finish which is their best finish to a Split since LCK Spring 2019 where they finished in third-place. The DRX mid and top-lane players are having a great start to the Summer Split with Kim “Zeka” Geon-woo and Hwang “Kingen” Seong-hoon compiling five MVPs between them through their first four matches. If “Zeka” and “Kingen” can keep their great form up throughout the Split, whilst getting consistently solid performances from the bot-lane duo of Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu and Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee, this DRX team could definitely spoil the T1 party in this match.

T1 are extremely short favourites here and there is obvious reason as to why they deserve to be, but we believe we have found some value in another market. Over 2.5 maps, with BetOnline, in the total maps market is where the value is, as we should be seeing a very tight match-up between two very talented rosters.

DAMWON Gaming are the champions of the 2022 Korean Open Spring following a commanding victory in the final against T1.

The six-day event finally came to an end on April 24, with six teams getting seeded for the Summer Spring while two will go to the Relegation.

Although the final was a best-of-5 series, they played only three maps, ending 3-0 in favor of DAMWON. The three maps played were Bank (7:4), Border (8:6), and Clubhouse (7:3).

DAMWON Gaming started the competition with an impressive performance in the group stage. Out of 14 total group stage matches, they secured ten victories and were never dragged into overtime.

Their first-place finish in the group standings guaranteed them a direct spot in the semifinals of the playoffs.

In the semifinals, they were matched up against Team GP, who finished fourth in the group stage and swept TALON in the quarterfinals.

Although GP stole a map in the best-of-3 semifinals series, DAMWON pulled off an incredible comeback, taking Villa and Bank comfortably.

Fans undoubtedly expected a more competitive final, especially as T1 was their opponent. Unfortunately, they could not withstand the force of DAMWON.

Nonetheless, T1 was rewarded with $16,116 of the $80,582 prize pool, coupled with 40 points and a slot at the 2022 Summer Korean Open. A piece of the prize pool, points, and a slot at the Summer Korean Open were given to the top six Rainbow Six teams, with the 7th and 8th getting $3,223 each and participation in Relegation.

For being the ultimate champion, DAMWON received $32,232, 60 points, and qualification for the Korean Open 2022 – Summer.

DAMWON Gaming are fighting for a spot in the 2022 Rainbow Six Charlotte Major

Slots have been allocated to the top four of the Asia-Pacific League 2022 Stage 1, and so far only two have been filled. With their qualification to the Upper Bracket Finals, CYCLOPS and Dire Wolves have secured their place in the Charlotte Major.

The remaining two slots will go to the teams that reach the Lower Bracket semifinals. As things stand, DAMWON are one of four teams that could qualify if they manage a victory in their next match.

DAMWON lost to CYCLOPS 2-1 in the Upper Bracket semifinals, which resulted in them being relegated to the Lower Bracket quarterfinal. While their place in the Lower Bracket is secure, they are yet to find out who their opponents are.

They will play the winners of the Chiefs EC-SANDBOX Gaming matchup, scheduled to be held on April 27. According to esports betting platforms, SANDBOX are the favorites to win with a moneyline odd of 1.57.

The Charlotte Major will commence on May 16 and will run through to May 22. Last year, the May Major was canceled by Ubisoft and replaced by the Six Invitational 2021.

The 2022 Six Invitational was a success, with 20 teams competing for a piece of the $3,000,000 prize pool. Every participant in the Charlotte Major will receive points for the 2023 Six Invitational, with the winner getting 375 points and a good percentage of the prize pool, which is yet to be announced.

DAMWON Gaming won their maiden League of Legends Championship Korea (LCK) title on Saturday when they defeated DRX 3-0 in the LCK 2020 Summer grand finals.

DAMWON Gaming have reached the summit of Korean LoL scene for the first time in the organisation’s history by sweeping the 2018 LCK Spring champions DRX (then Kingzone DragonX) in one of the most one-sided LCK grand finals in recent history.

DAMWON Gaming entered the LCK 2020 Summer grand finals as the favorited team due to their incredible performance in the regular season, which they won with 16-2 record and a 10-game winning streak. Despite that, however, DRX looked very strong in their semi-finals (3-2) win over Gen.G which made it seem like they are set to giva DAMWON a run for their money contest their second LCK title.

All the eyes were set on DRX’s mid laner Jeong “Chovy” Ji-hoon who had an outstanding performance against Gen.G and was regarded as the main win condition for DRX. On the other side, it was DAMWON’s ADC Jang “Ghost” Yong-jun and support Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee who have found themselves in the limelight but for all the wrong reasons.

Despite DAMWON’s dominance this split, their bottom lane was heavily criticised due to their lack of consistency and more than a few iffy displays. Nevertheless, the Korean duo looked significantly improved this weekend and not only held their own against DRX’s deadly bottom lane, but also played a pivotal role in their team’s success.

In fact, Ghost was the main actor in DAMWON’s win on the first map where he claimed a fairly impressive 4/1/5 record on Caitlyn. His solid performances, however, did not stop there as he put up a 8/1/7 on Kalista in game two and 2/1/13 on Draven in game three.

Even though Ghost and DeryL managed to prove to the world they’re the real deal, it was DAMWON’s top laner Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon who shone the brightest. The 21-year-old top laner ended the series with an incredible 11/3/15 record (8.7) KDA on Renekton and Ornn which earned him the LCK 2020 Summer grand finals MVP award. As for DAMWON’s mid laner Heo “ShowMaker” Su and jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu, they did not fail to impress either with 11.7 and 6.2 KDA respectively.

By winning the LCK Summer split, DAMWON have now emerged as the first Korean seed for the 2020 LoL World Championship, where Nuguri and co. will look to steal the Summoner’s Cup from the League of Legends Pro League (LPL) and bring it back home to Korea after two years.

Despite their loss to DAMWON, DRX also earned their spot at the season’s culminating event, having earned the most Championship points through the two splits. With DRX and DAMWON locked in for Worlds, this now leaves Korea with only one more spot for Worlds, which will be put on the line at the Regional Finals.

The LCK Regional Finals will kick off on Monday, September 7 and conclude two days later on Wednesday. The race for the third and final ticket for 2020 Worlds will begin with a bout between Afreeca Freecs and KT Rolster, the winner of which will then meet with T1 on Tuesday, from where one team will advance to clash with Gen.G in the final match.

This year’s LCK Regional Finals also hold much more weight, since the winner will get a direct bye to the LoL World Championship main event. This rule was implemented earlier last week after it was announced the Vietnam Championship Series (VCS) will not be sending any teams to China.

T1 vs DAMWON GAMING LCK SUMMER BETTING PREVIEW

The final week of the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) 2020 Summer regular season will kick off on Thursday with a long-awaited clash between T1 and DAMWON Gaming, who are both looking to secure top-three seedings in the playoffs.

If history has taught us anything, it is that T1 will always find a way into the LCK playoffs. After a shaky start saw them linger somewhere in mid-table for much of the split, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and his crew have found their rhythm and now enter the final week in fourth place with a 12-4 record, a six-game winning streak, and a chance to finish in the top three.

Much of T1’s success in recent weeks has come not from Faker, but from his replacement. Lee “Clozer” Ju-hyeon made his debut for the Korean juggernauts at the end of July against KT Rolster and has remained the go-to mid laner ever since. The 17-year-old sits fourth in the league KDA rankings with a 7.5 average, only behind his teammate Park “Teddy” Jin-seong (8.7) and DAMWON’s jungle-mid duo Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu (7.1) and Heo “ShowMaker” Su (16.2 KDA).

Facing the three-time world champions will be DAMWON Gaming, who have looked near unstoppable this split. With a 14-2 record and 30-5 game differential, they sit in second place and only one win short of the league frontrunners, DRX (15-2).

Given that DAMWON crushed DRX (2-0) during Week 7 and put Gen.G (2-1) in their place a week later, they are poised to enter the playoffs as title favourites. In order to finish on top, however, they need to defeat both T1 and KT Rolster on Saturday, or else hope DRX drop their game against T1 on the final day of the split.

DAMWON Gaming lead the field in more than just a few figures, including kills per game (16.9), gold differential per minute (+380), gold differential at 15 minutes (+2904), Herald kills per game (1.42), first tower rate (87.9%), tower differential at 15 minutes (1.4), and Baron control (87.5%).

T1 vs DAMWON GAMING LCK SUMMER BETTING PREDICTIONS

If we look purely at numbers, DAMWON Gaming are ahead of T1 in almost all elements of the game, but that does not necessarily guarantee them a win this Thursday. We need to remember that T1 did not look too sharp for the first part of the split, so their numbers are a bit skewed.

One more thing to note is that DAMWON’s bottom lane duo, Jang “Ghost” Yong-jun and Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee, did not look great in their game against Team Dynamics over the weekend. This could be a big problem when facing Teddy, who has averaged a double-digit KDA across his last four matches.

Even in the mid lane, Clozer has shown enough for us to believe he can hold his own against?ShowMaker. While the latter boasts an immaculate KDA, he is not perfect and might struggle to make an impact on his own if his top and bottom underperform.

While it’s hard to be too confident about T1 winning outright, we can be sure they have enough quality to keep this bout close and force a three-map series.

DAMWON GAMING vs TEAM DYNAMICS LCK SUMMER BETTING PREVIEW

Team Dynamics and DAMWON Gaming will clash for the second time in their history on Saturday during the ninth week of the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) 2020 Summer.

The 2019 LoL World Championship quarter-finalists have looked near unstoppable this split. They enter their 16th match as the LCK frontrunners with a 13-2 record and 28-5 game differential, which sits them slightly ahead of DRX due to their better game win rate.

While DAMWON narrowly lost to Gen.G (1-2) during Week 2 and DRX (1-2) in Week 4, they avenged those losses by taking down DRX (2-0) in Week 7 and Gen.G (2-1) last week. Heo “ShowMaker” Su and co. also defeated Team Dynamics (2-0), Afreeca Freecs (2-0), SANDBOX Gaming (2-0), ?SeolHaeOne Prince (2-0) and Hanwha Life Esports (2-0) to enter their next match on a seven-game winning streak.

All five DAMWON players have performed well this split, but mid laner ShowMaker is the standout with a league-high 16.2 KDA (142/25/263). That is more than double the figure of the second-highest KDA in the LCK 2020 Summer, which belongs to T1’s ADC Park “Teddy” Jin-seong (8.0).

It’s also worth noting that DAMWON jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu has the third-highest KDA (7.1) in the division, while ADC Jang “Ghost” Yong-jun is ranked fourth with 6.9. To put into perspective just how dominant DAMWON Gaming’s laners are, their worst-performing player is Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon, yet he has the 15th-highest KDA (4.7) in the league and the second-highest mark out of all top laners.

Team Dynamics’s 4-11 record means they are guaranteed to miss out on the LCK 2020 Summer playoffs, but they deserve a lot of praise for their efforts in the Korean top flight given they were formed less than a year ago.

Dynamics jumped out of the gates with three wins from their first four games in the split. However, it soon became clear that Lee “Kuzan” Seong-hyeok and his crew don’t possess enough quality or experience to compete with Korea’s finest, as they went on to lose 10 of their next 11 fixtures.

Team Dynamics’ four wins came against KT Rolster (2-0), SeolHaeOne Prince (2-1), Hanwha Life Esports (2-0) and, surprisingly, T1 (2-1). Other notable results include two 1-2 series against Afreeca Freecs and an identical score line against SANDBOX.

DAMWON GAMING vs TEAM DYNAMICS LCK SUMMER BETTING PREDICTIONS

Lane by lane, DAMWON Gaming are a class above Team Dynamics, who will likely struggle to win a single map, let alone the series. DAMWON are significantly more efficient in accumulating gold (+2904 GD @ 15m) than Team Dynamics (-884 GD @ 15m), and they are also far more effective in objective control.

A lot will have to go wrong for DAMWON to lose here. The head-to-head betting market offers little value, but the 10.5 kills handicap on the first map is an attractive option at -128.21 for the favourites.

Team Dynamics rank in the bottom three this split for average kills (9.9) and deaths (13.4) per game, whereas DAMWON top the league with 16.9 kills and only 7.9 deaths per game. The LCK Summer leaders have also produced an aggregate +23.25 kill differential across their last four games, which includes +38 against DRX.

This should be a complete stomp. Since DAMWON can’t afford to drop a single game if they’re serious about claiming their first LCK regular-season title, we expect ShowMaker and his teammates to start strong and close out the series as fast as possible.

T1 vs DAMWON Gaming LCK SUMMER BETTING PREVIEW

T1 and DAMWON Gaming will kick off the third week of the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) 2020 Summer on Wednesday in their first best-of-three (Bo3) meeting of the split.

The only loss T1 have suffered so far this split came on the opening day, when Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and co. had to admit defeat to DragonX (1-2). Other than that, they defeated Hanwha Life (2-1), Afreeca Freecs (2-1) and most recently SANDBOX Gaming (2-0). Despite the 3-1 record, there is still a lot of room for improvement.

The biggest issue with T1 is not a lack of individual quality, as all five players are putting up high marks. Instead, the issue lies in their suboptimal approach to drafts, which cost them maps in their clashes with Hanwha Life and Afreeca Freecs.

Even so, there is no denying T1’s overall strength. Their vision control is one of the highest in the league, and the individual performances from mid laner Faker, ADC Park “Teddy” Jin-seong and top laner Kim “Canna” Chang-dong are well above the league’s average. All three are have contributed more than 24% each of the team’s damage share this split.

As for T1’s jungle position, both Moon “Cuzz” Woo-chan and Choi “Ellim” El-lim have impressed when given the chance. Ellim has the better stats with a league-high 18.3 KDA and a 63.3% KPAR compared to Cuzz’s 3.1 KDA and 68.3% KPAR, albeit with fewer games played. It remains to be seen who T1 will field for this match, but either way, it’s fair to say they should not fear a massive jungle gap.

Talking about jungle gap, that is exactly what DAMWON Gaming will look to accomplish to disrupt the flow of the game and prevent T1 from playing at their own pace. While the favourites have two strong options in that position, the solid form of Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu suggests DAMWON are not without hope there.

DAMWON defeated SANDBOX (2-0) and SeolHaeOne Prince (2-0) in convincing fashion in the opening round, but they came up short in a tight tussle with Gen.G (1-2) last week. They bounce back in a big way against KT Rolster (2-0), however, as DAMWON needed just under 45 minutes to end the series and only 21:38 to win the second map, which is by far the shortest game of the split.

How much a commanding win against a 1-3 team means is up to debate, but it should at least serve as a massive morale boost for DAMWON as they get ready to face the most successful team in the history of LoL esports.

T1 vs DAMWON Gaming LCK SUMMER BETTING PREDICTIONS

Both T1 and DAMWON field some of the brightest talents in the scene, so it’s hard to set them apart quality-wise. Esports bookmakers, however, seem to agree T1 are the most likely winners here, which is not quite how we see it.

The last time these teams met was at the end of May during the group stage of the Mid-Season Cup, where DAMWON Gaming won 1-0. They also defeated T1 in April, during Week 7 of the LCK Spring.

The win condition for T1 will be getting Teddy ahead and allowing him to carry them to victory. That, however, can easily be countered by DAMWON, who have a solid ADC in Jang “Ghost” Yong-jun and can also count on Canyon to pressure the bottom lane and get his teammate ahead.

This has all the ingredients for a close bout, so over 2.5 maps is the logical bet to make. An outright bet on DAMWON is also something to consider, but we will go for the safer option here.

DAMWON GAMING vs GEN.G LCK SUMMER BETTING PREVIEW

DAMWON Gaming and Gen.G will test their strength this Thursday when they meet during the second week of the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) 2020 Summer Split.

Despite their struggles during the LCK Spring, DAMWON got off to a flying start in the LCK Summer by picking up clean sweeps against SANDBOX Gaming and SeolHaeOne Prince (formerly APK Prince) to enter Week 2 with a 100% win rate, +497 gold differential per minute and an exceptional +4807 gold differential at 15 minutes. They also hold a +2 tower and +50.5 CS differential at 15 minutes.

How much their wins against two of the weakest LCK teams mean is up to debate, but there is no denying Heo “ShowMaker” Su and his crew are mounting a serious challenge for their maiden title in the Korean top flight.

All five members of DAMWON are at the top of their game, which is especially true for mid laner ShowMaker, jungler Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu and support Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee. ShowMaker holds the highest KDA in the league at 25.5, while Canyon (10.4) and BeryL (7.83) rank third and fourth respectively.

The raw numbers for top laner Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon and ADC Jang “Ghost” Yong-jun are not exactly phenomenal, yet they have contributed a combined 49% of the team’s damage share.

DAMWON’s hot form was there for all to see in their clash with SeolHaeOne Prince, as they needed just under 54 minutes to win the series. Additionally, ShowMaker and co. clinched the victory with 43 kills, 22 towers, five drakes and two barons, while SeolHaeOne Prince managed only 22 kills, three towers and two drakes. Showmaker, Canyon and Ghost were the best-performing players on that day with 12.5, 6.4 and 6.3 KDA figures respectively.

While DAMWON were stomping low-rated LCK teams, Gen.G endured a tough start to their LCK Summer campaign. Kim “Clid” Tae-min and his crew faced DragonX in their opener and lost 1-2, to which they added a narrow 2-1 win against KT Rolster on Sunday.

If we go by raw numbers, DAMWON look the stronger team by far, but we must take into consideration that Gen.G faced much tougher opponents. So far, Gen.G have been averaging -30 gold differential per minute, +257 gold differential at 15 minutes and 33.1 CS per minute, with a +0.33 tower and +26.8 CS differential at 15 minutes.

The best-performing Gen.G players to date are jungler Clid, ADC Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk and mid laner Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong, while the highest KDA (6.4) belongs to support Kim “Kellin” Hyeong-gyu.

In their most recent bout against KT Rolster, Gen.G recovered from a disappointing start to clinch a reverse sweep. Bdd was by far the best player on that day with a 7.0 KDA, closely followed by Kellin with 6.4 in his LCK Summer debut.

DAMWON GAMING vs GEN.G LCK SUMMER BETTING PREDICTIONS

Last split, Gen.G won both of their bouts against DAMWON Gaming, but that does not necessarily mean they are odds-on to win this week. Although DAMWON still have a lot to prove, they have been clean and controlled without showing any obvious weaknesses.

The only player who should show a bit more is Ghost, since DAMWON are relying on Nuguri and ShowMaker to do most of the work. That could be an issue when he comes up against the exceptional Ruler, but we don’t feel like the ADC matchup will be the game changer here.

This game seems like it can go either way, so it’s hard to call a clear winner. From a betting perspective, however, this is a great opportunity to take advantage of the higher odds on the in-form underdogs.

DAMWON GAMING vs GRIFFIN LCK SPRING SPLIT BETTING PREVIEW

The second-to-last competitive week in the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) 2020 Spring Split will kick off on Wednesday with a clash between DAMWON Gaming and the reigning LCK runners-up, Griffin.

DAMWON Gaming did not make any roster changes in the off-season, which was quite unusual given that every other team in the LCK made at least one swap. Nevertheless, Heo “ShadowMaker” Su and co. have held their ground against the new-look teams and are now set to enter the playoffs for the third consecutive split.

The young squad entered the 2020 season as an enigma of sorts. On one side, their sheer talent and potential for growth made DAMWON potential LCK frontrunners, but on the other, many believed they still needed time to develop into a true Korean esports powerhouse.

The truth is that DAMWON sit somewhere in between, as they sit tied-fourth in the league standings with an 8-7 record. While they are guaranteed to finish in the top eight and avoid relegation, they are still two wins short of securing a spot in the playoffs.

With Griffin, DragonX and SANDBOX Gaming as their final three opponents of the split, it is crucial for DAMWON to win here. Failure to do so could put them in an unenviable position where they need to upset DragonX and hope Afreeca Freecs fail to secure more than two wins.

While the pressure is on, DAMWON’s morale must be higher than ever following their 2-0 triumphs over Hanwha Life, Afreeca Freecs and T1 in Week 7. That bodes well for their bout with Griffin, who sit bottom of the LCK standings with a terrible 3-12 record to their name.

The 2019 LCK Summer Split runners-up and LoL World Championship quarter-finalists began their 2020 journey with a solid top-eight finish at the KeSPA Cup, to which they added a mediocre 2-2 run through the opening two weeks of the LCK Spring Split. It all went south from there, as Lee “Tarzan” Seung-yong and his crew failed to win another match up until last Sunday when they edged past APK Prince (2-1).

Sitting two wins and big a chunk of map percentage outside the top eight, Griffin need to win all of their remaining fixtures against DAMWON, Afreeca Freecs and Hanwha Life in order to avoid relegation. That will be no walk in the park, but the bottom side can give themselves a fighting chance with a win over DAMWON this Wednesday.

DAMWON GAMING vs GRIFFIN LCK SPRING SPLIT BETTING PREDICTIONS

Emotions will be running high in this David versus Goliath fixture. While Griffin are fighting for survival, the surging DAMWON Gaming will settle for nothing less than a win as they chase a playoff berth.

DAMWON and Griffin met during Week 3 of the 2020 LCK Spring Split, where we saw the former edge out a 2-1 win. Although that result might suggest Griffin can force a three-map series this week, it’s hard to find a solid argument in favour of the underdogs.

The main issue is not so much the difference in individual quality between these two sides, but rather the fact that Griffin have looked progressively worse throughout the season. DAMWON, meanwhile, have improved markedly over the course of the campaign and won eight straight maps in their last four matches, which includes a 2-0 win over T1 last weekend.

An upset win is always something to consider in an online contest. However, if DAMWON enter this match with the same fire they have shown in the past two weeks, this match should end in a complete stomp.
